The clue to 109 across is Veteran BBC journalist (8) the answer is Kate Adie (4,4), I wonder if it is worthwhile completing crossword or will it be yet another daily record crossword that will void (as has happened a few times with the big one on a Tuesday.

Hi all and thanks katburd for providing the DR's phone number. I phoned them and said I was sick of wasting stamps sending in crosswords that were later declared void. I suggested they get a new compiler or ask their sister paper the Sunday Mail for details of who provides their error-free crosswords. As you say, Saturday's is void.

Hi JMR27, glad you phoned up as well, maybe they will change compiler.
the reason they gave me today was the original clue had 8 letters before it got changed.

I'd be annoyed if I'd got Kate Adie right and wasted 60p on a stamp. I think they should still give a prize for this week and double next week's prize

I have just come in and read this thread,as suspected another void crossword.I was one of the people who wasted a stamp,after all Kate Adie HAS eight letters! Factor 30 you have got the job in DR as crossword checker!!!

Has anyone read last week's answers in this week's crossword page? 37D was TRIBE, 9D was BORSCH and according to it, 109A which was the BBC journalist clue...says KATMANDU ( Not Kate Adie ) :-P Just saying.
