Weighing the cat

Maybe a tad more than a month ago the cat was weighed at the vets and was 7.4 kg.

Yesterday I weighed him at home by weighing myself, then picking him up and taking the difference. Doing that showed he is now 6.8 kg. I can't get him to stay on the scales on his own.

Now, he has been on a diet but that seems like a lot of weight loss in a short amount of time and tbh he still resembles a warthog.

Does that sound plausible?

Well he's lost 0.6 Kg. Thats just over a pound, I think. That seems O.K.

Oh god, a maybe I did my maths wrong. I weighed out (in grams) what I thought was the equivalent and it seemed like a huge amount.

Could be your scales are not as accurate as the vets. They also differ as to whether yours are on carpet or hard flooring. You really need to use the same scales for an accurate result.

7.4 is a big cat! I thought cats were supposed to weigh about 4 kilos

Hence the reason he is on a diet.

He's a big cat anyway though. He'd never be 4. Vet said aim for 5.5 to 6.
