Since my hearing has deteriorated Im suffering from "Musical Torment" a mixture of all sorts of music in my head. Its constant and the only way I can block is to keep either the radio or tv on. Can anyone recommend a cd or tape of quiet classical music for when Im trying to get some sleep? Thanks.

I'd recommend a "tinnitus sound relaxer" (such as the one in this link). I've had one for several years and don't go away without it. Invaluable for all tinnitus sufferers.

Dotty, Mine began with a hissing and ticking noise and I could just about tolerate that. What I have is not just one song but a mixture of songs and tunes all mixed together and repeated over and over. If you can imagine a stage full of singers and musicians all tuning up the out on fast forward thats Musical Torment.
miller: the reason that you are not aware of the tinnitus when"out and about" is that there is so much other ambient noise for your brain to tune in to. Normally, you would become aware of it only in quieter environments.
That's how these Tinnitus sound relaxer machines work - they give your brain something to concentrate on, other than your "internal" noise- very useful when in quiet situations eg. bedroom at night, trying to sleep.
