Who am I?

Just got into a right tizz. I followed the instructions to install an avatar but because my Avatar name is already established it would not accept it and I was transferred to the World press web site.
They in turn started talking about me buying blogs and heaven knows what else. It seems I cannot get a password established with Avatar until I have my Avatar sorted and vice versa.
It seems the only way I will be accepted is if I change my Avatar name.
I've gone all round the bush.
I give up.

Not sure what you mean about your avatar "name" - gravatar.com works on your email address...

Still not working. I keep being told I should have a Word press account or something.

Then you're definitely going wrong somewhere. Did you follow the links Baldric supplied...?

Yes. I am then asked to enter (1) my email address (2) my my gravatar (parkdale) and (3) create my password.
It then shows up that 'parkdale' is already taken, and if it is my name to go onto the word press site, at which point my proposed password is cancelled.
On the word press site I am then asked to put in my password which, of course I don't have because it has been cancelled and as a reult I keep being rejected.

We all had our usernames when we got an Avatar, you can't get one without being an established user, which you are.

Yes, but I don't recall gravatar asking for my AB username - all it wanted, IIRC, was the email address by which AB knew me...

How strange - sorry you are having problems parkdale I got mine with no trouble at all and even changed it for a Christmas nativity scene last December. Hope you are successful soon.

It could mean that someone has already registered with Gravatar and used parkdale. You shouldn't have to type in your AB username though. It can be anything. You might have to re-type your username and maybe put a number on the end, or maybe a hyphen or underscore. Eg:

parkdale999
Parkdale999
park-dale999
park_dale999

I think, Mark, I had to create a different recognisable name which is what I did.
I am still unable to get beyond this little box with the certificate registration in it and don't know if it is compulsory or optional.
I think the best thing is to wait until one of my daughters is visiting and see if she can sort it for me.
