I am looking to visit iceland anytime between the dates of 28th dec - 3rd jan for abouty 4 or 5 nights. The cheapest (!) around £460 return seems to be direct from manchester and back again but am open to flying other routes if money can be saved. Does anyone know a cheap route getting there. Have been looking at flying from other airports in the north or scotland, or flying out to a scandinavian country and going on from there? Any ideas welcome :)

I warn you, Iceland is humengously expensive; however the locals are really nice. It will be very short days as to light then 11-3pm............
It's bound to be really expensive in midwinter, aurora borealis etc....
Don't bother, I'd say.
I had a dreadful holiday in Iceland earlier this year - very very boring and very very expensive. And two of their biggest volcanoes are overdue for their next eruption.
Why not fly to a scandinavian country and spend some time there without going to Iceland at all ?
my ex-husband was climbing a glacier actually and didn;t really tour the country much.
are you looking for the northern lights? You may also see them from Scandinavia. If you're going for any other reason, remember you only get four hours or so of daylight
