DT, yes, I am interested in all antiquities, be they Roman, Egyptian or any other.But it's always the human interest, not the art, that appeals.
Example: The memorial is interesting , and touching, but Lucius's darling dog was called Metilianus. The plaque is from around 100 AD. At that time Metilius was the name of an important family in Roman politics; one Metilius was appointed governor of Britain in 94, for example. Lucius appears to have had a satirical sense of humour. He's called the dog what translates as ' kin to Metilius' or 'like a Metilius' !
