Battery not working!

Please can someone help me. I have an Acer laptop and usually use it plugged into the mains but now I have to because the battery doesn't seem to be recharging. I regularly leave it charging up when not in use but clearly nothing is happening. Is there something I can do to correct this? Or do I need a new battery and if so where from. I'm afraid technology is beyond me so I need all the help I can get.

You need a new battery, they only last a finite amount of time... you can generally get them from places like ebay or online retailers fairly easily.

If you say what model number the laptop is then somebody will no doubt post a link to one for you.
