Morning from Hell

I am just calming down after a horrible morning - my neighbour went into cardiac arrest - his wife came rushing into me - I went into him and he was going into cardiac arrest - phoned ambulance, they said if he started to vomit get him into the recovery postion. When I went back into the room he was throwing up - I couldn't lift him on my own, and his wife is having cancer treatment, so is not in a fit state herself. I ran into my other neighbour and we both were just getting him on the floor, when the paramadic arrive - thank god.
There were 8 paramedics working on him in her front room - he also arrested again in the ambulance.
Have just checked and they transferred him straight away form our local hospital to the London Chest Hospital where a team were waiting to operate to put a stent into him. He is now stable.
He is a lovely man and it was horrible to see him in such a state.

I've been a first aider for years and have hardly ever been called upon to use any of my training until a few weeks ago when my daughter, (who has Addison's Disease), went into crisis and had to have an injection prior to the medics arriving.
Between us, my wife and I did it, but I must admit it can throw you a bit when something like that suddenly happens.

What an awful thing to happen Towie, you were absolutely brilliant and probably saved his life. My husband had a heart attack 7 years ago so I know how frightening it is to witness, his wife must have been so scared. Well done for being there to help and actually know what to do! Best wishes to them both x
Ann - I had to keep his wife calm, as she has just undergone her second round of chemo this week and is not in a good condition, she started to shake and I knew she was going into shock. I wrapped her in a blanket and cuddled her to keep her warm.
They are such a lovely couple and she is quite a strong person, normally but it was very sad to see how vunerable they were today, very very sad.
