PDF printing
4 Answers
I am using Cute Writer to produce PDF copies of documents to go to a commercial printer.
Problem is that some colours are shades different in the finished article.
I am advised that my Cute Writer is probably using RGB colours, where the printers use CMYK.
Any suggestions on how I can change this, or, an alternative free PDF programme that will recognise CMYK, please?

I'm assuming that your printer has two cartridges, 1 for RGB and 1 for Black??
I recently found that if you print a colour photo using only Gray scale then the blacks have a greenish hue as the printer is trying to get a black using only the RGB cartridge but if you convert the photo to a Gray scale using a colour program menu then the printer will only use the black cartridge.
Using CMYK should give you truer blacks in a colour photo (I think!)
Hope this helps in some way.

PDF redirect will keep CMYK settings as long as the program you are printing from outputs in CMYK.... just print as to the PDF virtual printer just like you do in cute PDF and select keep CMYK in the printer settings when it comes up
