Weight of a Ford Luton Van
Is there a way of telling the weight of the above van, by any markings on it. The reason I ask is we have restrictions in our road against vehicles over 5cwt parking overnight. We recently have had someone parking his van, he doesn't even live in our road and parking is particularly bad in our road at the best of times, so want to see if he is falling foul of this restriction.

If the restriction really is 5cwt then, as Methyl indicates, everyone in your street will have to start riding motorcycles - because that's about all that you'll be able to park there!
I'm actually surprised to read of any restriction in Imperial units being still in place. (I've not seen a sign which has not been in metric units for several decades!).
How much does a Luton van weigh? See here:

There will be a plate somewhere, but these are usually on the door pillars, so you can't see them with the doors closed. Check to see if there is one on the chassis under the bodywork. You might be able to get it off the tax disc, as there is a section for GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) on the disc for commercial vehicles. Remember the restriction is for the vehicles GVW, not its tare (empty) weight. As a very broad rule, if it has double rear wheels it will be over 3.5T. Just looked on Fords website and they are saying that new chassis cabs are from 2.5T to 4.6T GVW, so you may still not get to the 5T limit. Actually, thinking about it, this restriction will be to stop anything over a 7.5T truck parking, this sort of thing http://www.google.co....,r:1,s:0&tx=120&ty=38
