I have had a wheezy chest and an annoying dry cough coming up for 3 weeks now, chest feels cold inside, and I have cold chills then get really hot. My heart feels like it is pounding faster every so often, even when resting. Rang my doc he said it is a chest infection and has prescribed me anti-biotics for collection later today. He said he does not need to see me I can just collect prescription from reception. Can a chest infection cause heart to race intermittently, or am I just stressing thinking about it racing?

Any infection which initiates the inflammatory response may well cause the heart to speed up......it is a normal bodily response.
