You can use they Microsoft "wizard" to do that for you so long as you can communicate directly between the 2 computers, otherwise there is software you can buy/try. Have a look at download.om and look up transfer files or something similar. However, think about starting afresh with all the settings and just transfer your files by burning CD's or DVD's or using a memory stick etc. May take a while but you will get there.
basically, all you want to transfer are documents and songs etc. you've saved yourself. not the actual programs and program data.

so backup all your pictures, films, word files, music, etc. how you back it up is up to you, and dependant on your old PC. if it has a CD writer or even a DVD writer, you may like that idea.

or do as vicars suggests.

Hi.

I recently purchased a new computer and I had the same problem ! one of my colleagues at work told me about a portable USB device that you plug into your p.c.

I went out and bought one - and it was the best thing i have bought. I have all my important data saved on it: pictures, letters, etc - and when I bought my new p.c. I plugged the USB device into my p.c. and copied all the information from the device to my p.c.

Go out and buy one ! it's invaluable.

Also it serves as a back-up too if anything happened to your p.c. you have everything on your external USB device !

You can get them from any high street computer shop, i.e. Dixons, Curry's etc.

Hope that helps.
