Problem with hand

I have noticed that I get pins and needles in my right hand when I am not using it for a length of time (eg when I am a passenger in a car) and most mornings I wake up with a dead hand (what I would refer to as my hand being asleep), but I don't get pins and needles as it 'wakes' up. I don't sleep on that side so I am not lying on my hand and it is a bit inconvenient as that is the hand that I use to put the alarm clock on to snooze. Is this something to be concerned about? Thank you for any replies.

I can't help, but I often wake with a dead left hand if I have been lying with my elbow bent. It's very odd.

Yes it could be CTS, I had that with those problems.

I have that if I've been using my computor mouse too much - I think it's a quite common thing if one's arm is rested for too long in an awkward position but better listen to those more learned than I!

No, nothing to worry about. I have a dead hand sometimes when I wake up, when I have been on the computer for too long, when I carry shopping, when I drag my suitcase. It`s just "one of those things"

Thanks for that, whilst I am far too young (well, not that far) to fall within the normal age range I will keep an eye on it (apparently, if it is that, and they catch it early it is easy to sort).

I get it a lot also...sometimes when I wake up,and also if I go on the pc first thing,my fingers on my right hand go all pins and needles. It also seems worse after work days.

Just over a year ago I had numbness in my pinkie in my right hand and a feeling of weakness,it turned out I had compression in the right cubital tunnel,pressure on the nerve was causing the numbness and if not treated would cause weakness of the hand.I had a decompression operation on my elbow which was merely stopping it becoming worse and not necessarily stopping the numbness,which has turned out to be true.So I would act now and get it medically checked out as it may be something to nip in the bud!

Ok, I am a big ditherer when it comes to slight maybe medical type things. I will keep an eye on it (mostly bothered about not getting my snooze of morning). Seriously though, I will have a think about it as it's my right hand.
