Right click on an empty area of your desktop.
Left click on New
Left click on Folder
Type a name for this folder (e.g. November photos)
Hit Enter
Double left click on this new folder - It will say "This folder is empty"
Click on the two small squares at the top right of the screen and then "grab" the corners of this window to make it approximately half the size if the full screen.
Now insert your SD card into the card reader on your laptop. It should be recognised automatically.
If you get an "Autoplay" window, close this by clicking on the X at the top right of the autoplay window.
Now go to Computer (or My Computer) on your desktop and double click.
You will see the SD card as "Removable Drive F" (or similar)
Double click to open this and you should see your photos.
Drag and drop these into your "November Photos" folder.
You've done it!
i too am having same prob but on a pc ,how do i download them ?
drag and drop as MichaelZZ says.

Many thanks for your replies. I did what you said to do Michael but it didnt help. The light comes on my computer when I put thr card in ,flashes two or three times but then goes off again.?
That's strange, Lilac!
Are you putting the card direct into a slot in your laptop or are you putting into a card reader which then plugs into the lappy with a USB lead?
Have you tried connecting your camera (with the SD card in) direct to your computer with the camera's USB lead?
The procedure is basically the same as I described above. (Don't forget to turn the camera on!)
What make / model of camera have you got? (I've just run through all the procedures above with my two cameras - an Olympus and a Panasonic Lumix - and not had any difficulty in transferring from SD card (Lumix) and xD card (Olympus) to my computer.)
Please let me know how you get on.
I had a similar problem. Some photos could only be viewed through the camera and not on my laptop. I'd forgotten to delete some photos that I'd already downloaded. Once I'd done that I could view and download the more recent ones. Don't know if this helps. By the way I downloaded them through the camera, not card directly into laptop.
I download all my photos direct from the camera, I've never done it any other way.

Many thanks. I have managed to download the photos from the camera to laptop now using the cable. It is a Canon E550. Only trouble is the video I have on there has come out as still photos.? Oh and I put the cd card in the laptop in the slot. thankyou.
Pleased you've got your photos downloaded. Thanks for letting us know!
Ref the video clips:-
As far as I recall, the Canon saves these as .mov files. Unfortunately, if you are using Windows Media Player, it doesn't recognise this file type.
You could try Googling "How to play .mov files" which may tell you to download a different image handling program (like Irfan View, for instance).
Just a couple of questions: Do the video clips play OK when you connect the camera up to the telly?
Is you SD card of sufficient speed / capacity. I guess that a 4GB Class 6 (minimum) card is required. (Check the manual - if you haven't got one I'll see what I can find)
