21 a Leaves home and works out (5)

Yes
one in cricket - run
keen - into
Run into is OK.
Run = score of one in cricket
Into can mean keen on, as in film title "he's Not All That Into You".

Can't figure 21a -yet.

Hi Dave, I am not saying that I am 100% sure with 'Tains', but they are thin layers of metal, as in 'gold leaves' ?
I've just twigged!
To twig is to come to understand, or it could be said, work out.
Where do yo find leaves? On a branch or twig.
So, it's TWIGS?
Should have added that twigs can be seen as the home of leaves, or leaves' home.

Thank you Big Jack.

Such perseverance is brilliant.
I of course sat up all night working it through - NOT!
It literally just struck me as I woke up, although I only remember dreaming about cannibals and coconuts.
