BEM = British Empire Medal (honour)
Bridge = card game

Sorry I'm still unsure of where you get Bos(s) meaning short head as in Boscombe?

Last two questions I need are:
1. Ban Monarch (7)
2. Sounds like bench with insect (6) - I think this may be Formby but unsure if form is another word for bench - can anyone help with this one?

Bolsover - sounds like Bowls over
Form is another word for bench
Ban Monarch - Bar (ban) + King (Monarch) - Barking

4. To clarify BOSCOMBE (near Bournemouth) . . . .

BOSS = Head, eg Branson is the Boss, or Head of Virgin
so 'BOS' is short head, plus COMBE for Valley.
