Got a phone call today from the building society...

Speaking says I, what can I do for you?
Err Err I was wondering why you haven't been into branch for so long.
Because I don't want to either withdraw or deposit any money says I.
Oh okay says she. Goodbye.
Hang on a minute says I, You're checking to make sure I'm still alive and not dead.
With that comment from me she hung up.
I rang said Building Society who informed me they have made no such call.
They have put a "No Withdrawals" on my account until I go to my branch.
Has anyone else had or heard of this?

and they didn't ask for any proof that you know you are you for around 5 minutes with several questions about your grandmother, first school or pets name? definately dodgy.

They were trying to get you to tell you your account number, they would have asked eventually after sussing out whether you were the gullible sort. Thank goodness you didn't fall for it Jeza. Beware of this scam!

no...your bank should never call you. keep your account as it is and tell no-one of it. if they want to see you in your local branch to discuss in person - you should only do that tbh....at least then you know it's genuine! x
