egg trick

i read a few weeks ago about the egg trick where you throw the egg as high as a double decker bus and it will shuttlecock and not break. i tried this. it broke. am i doing something wrong or am i too stupid to realise that this was a wind up?

I tried this, but since we now only seem to have bendy-buses in our area, I totally misjudged the height that a double-decker bus should be.
The egg cleared the bus and landed on a police car that was in the next lane.
I am now being charged with assault with an ovicular weapon.

How should I plead?

Have you tried hypnotizing the egg first? You can drop an egg 10 meters without it breaking; just make sure that your more than 10 meters above the ground.

I don't know about throwing an egg up in the air, but due to the ovoid shape of an egg in is considerably stronger and more resilient if pressure is applied to the ends than the sides. If you hold an egg between your hands with the ends pressing into your palms you will find it virtually impossible to crush. The more oval the egg the better. In theory you should be able to stand on a row of three or four eggs provided the presseure is on the ends of the eggs. If you mount them in egg cups it will not work as the cup tends to grip the side of the egg and it will not be the bottom end taking the pressure.
