I bought an ipad2 from a work colleague. It seems to be an expensive web browser and not much else.

I love my iPad - the kids have got my original one, loads of free apps to suit them all and I have a new one. Know I and of using it to its full extent and still think its fab.
Will it blend?

And it's not even good at that. There is no flash player so 40% of websites will not be fully available to you. They are overrated IMO just like the iPhone.
40% of web sites use flash? (android also droping flash) its just too old and clumsy
Everyone is dropiing flash, aside form some grown up video sites, html 5 and other technologies are now used.
and sites that are flash only tend to have an app to cater for the small group of millions of apple users.

Ipads are media consumption devices
listen to music
surf the web
Play games
Watch videos
use email
use social networking
use as photo frame
alarm clock
internet radio
drawing pictures
editing documenst
remote in to any other computers
check train times
take pics/video
set your sky box to record something
watch netflix
face time /skype with people
music recording and creation
etc etc

but normaly you would have a reason to buy something first.

Im in IT have load sof Laptops , Pc's servers etc, I rarley use a laptop any more. mainly because its just easier to carry a tablet (reguardless of apple windos or android)

it can do anything a laptop can in principle, all depnds if you can type quickly on a screen based keyboard, Im hopless at typing so using an ipad to write docs is fine, i think it would be hard to get 120 wpm out of it though.

bare i nmind although i do thing a tablet can replace a laptop, you would have to change software and way you work to get to the same goal.

if you are the sort that doesnt like change, which there are many, then it may not be the right device for you.

my son has an ipad 2 its main use is as a guitar effects pedal system, and recording.

They are overrated, you cant escape that, but still better than the compition.
in the same respect Coke is better than pepsi its all subjective
