Her tour of America, under the auspices of the famous showman PT Barnum made her a national sensation, with her concert tickets selling for fantastic amounts of money. Jenny was the equivalent of a 19th-century Madonna. After her singing career ended, Jenny Lind lived for some time in London, teaching at the Royal College Of Music, before her death in 1887.
