Couldn't bear just hearing about the poor children who are dying or have died today in the war in the Middle East. Poor little children completely innocent, I pray the little 5 yr old girl survives the stomach operation, her family have been through so much, can't watch anymore ................ I'm so upset.

Got to go to bed, but thanks Ann for initiating an interesting chat - even though it wasn't intended. :o)

Wish I hadn't started this thread the silly way it is going ........ I only meant that I couldn't bear to hear the children crying and suffering on the news.
Please leave it now everyone!

Well, I know what is going on and I had to leave the room when the news was on tonight. Not burying my head in the sand at all, just so frustrated and angry on what I consider to be a very immoral situation. I simply cannot understand why people who have been treated so inhumanely in recent history can treat others as they were treated. I'm with Nox on this.
Lottie if the people of Israel had to give up their land to the Palestinians, where do you suggest they go?
If I thought it would benefit the world for the Palestinians to regain possession of the land of Israel, I’d be tempted to suggest the Israelis do as the Palestinians did when their homes and land were taken from them. I’ve seen plenty of them living elsewhere in the grimmest circumstances. Ever seen a sea of family homes constructed of nothing but tatty cardboard boxes? However, I don’t think it would benefit the world - it would be disastrous – so I won’t suggest it.
Riiiiiiight...so the point of that post was what precisely because on this subject particularly I really don't follow your train of thought? Why would it be disastrous for the Palestinians to regain their land exactly?
Nox, the point of the post was to illustrate that, contrary to what appears to be popular belief, the Israelis are not the victims here. At one time I would have fully supported the return of the Palestinians to Palestine, but in recent years the area has changed beyond recognition – as has the mindset of many of its inhabitants - and I don’t think that Arabs gaining a further foothold would be beneficial to the world as a whole.
A bit late now with my reply Craft, sorry. But Israel is a country specifically for jews as far as I understand and not for people that were born and bred in Israel. This 'promised' land thing doesn't wash with me at all. Only jews believe in a promised land. Why anybody should have to give up their country which is theirs by right and not by gift or because of their creed/religion, that I do not understand.

I am not anti Jewish by any means, any more than I am anti moslem or anti Christian. I believe in fairness. I am in agreement with Naomi and Nox above me here.
