This may be bit daft but if I want to get a wireless keyboard (ie. have it detached from PC, on lap), is there anything else that would need to be on the PC in order for it to be picked up by the PC ?

You have a little thing that plugs into the USB and it connects wirelessly through that.
And a wireless mouse............
You said you wouldn't mention my lack of wires crafty.
Would they be McWires?

Yeah, the mouse ... :o)
Does the plug come with the keyboard ummmm, or would I have to get that separately ?
I'm sorry, I can't remember.
It should come with it................
I annoys me a lot that to buy a wireless keyboard they force you to buy a wireless mouse you don't want. Con. As if every time you need a keyboard you need a mouse of the design they want to flog. Shouldn't be allowed.
My new PC came with a cordless keyboard and mouse, luckily BT gave me a home hub as a gift.

Your keyboard and mouse do not use the home hub.
I guess it's lucky that craft didn't have to buy it :-) They upgraded my home hub for nothing, too.
