The theme is "How well do you know the sea and ships?" Nearly all the answers are cryptic.
1." Don Quixote's target "(4)
2." Hewer" (7) Could be clipper although I already have that for another clue but that does not necessarily rule it out.
3. " I heard he followed the cortege" (6)
4. "Vessel for airborn Hollander" (5,4)
5. "Fly boys here" (7)
6. "A cat and a half so to speak" (8)
Any help much appreciated

Thanks for all your ideas. Like trimaran for no.6. Why is ghost ship answer to no.4? Like jetsam for no.6 (it does only have 6 letters so can't be jetsams)
Thanks BJ ..I should have put a link :))
maxymax ..an airborn Hollander is a Flying Dutchman as explained in the link BJ gave .The Flying Dutchman was a ghost ship .
Question Author
Thanks for explanations. Am going with ghost ship for No.4,trimaran for No.6 and jetsam for No 3 rather than whaler. Still to be convinced about sail for No.1 and collier for No.2 (B.J I can't find a link in Thesaurus with hewer).Any ideas for No.5?
Question Author
Sorry am getting muddled. I like jetsams for No 5,whaler for No 3,trimaran for No 6 and ghost ship for No 4. Yet to be convinced with sail for No.1 or collier (or anything else ) for No.2. Thanks to you all.
1 " Don Quixote's target - what did he tilt at and what do they have ??
Question Author
Ok Big Jack I am happy with the sail link but (perhaps I am being stupid) I still can't see hewer and collier in that link you have forwarded. Thanks so much for all your efforts though. Regards
hew·er
noun /ˈhyo͞oər/
hewers, plural

A person who cuts wood, stone, or other materials

A miner who cuts coal from a seam

col·lier
noun /ˈkälyər/
colliers, plural

A coal miner

A ship carrying coal
The "hewer" link doesn't seem to be working:
(Extract). Definition of hewer
noun
dated
a person who cuts wood, stone, or other materials.
a miner who cuts coal from a seam.

Couple that with the "collier" definition
col·lier
noun
1. a ship for carrying coal.
2. a coal miner.
Question Author
Thanks mamyalynne. I see the link now. If I had not already put clipper down for another clue I would have preferred that, although it does actually say "there's no guarantee that all the answers are different! Decisions, decisions!!
Question Author
Thanks Big Jack. Collier it is!!
