We have really strong winds here in the east and our power has been on and off this evening. Never off for longer than a few minutes, but I'm not trusting it now.

Being an all electric household, i have just been to the shed and brought in the calor gas cooker and heater and I've put all of my battery operated lights on charge. The candles are at the ready and the torch has new batteries. All in the hope that if I'm prepared I won't need to use any of it!

Are any of you suffering from the effects of the weather this evening?

Yes. Wind getting up here as well in East Essex. Think I'll hit the hay soon and curl up with my teddy.

Flower pots all over the lawn now, but otherwise we're hanging on in here!
We have had about a dozen flickers through the day (hampshire coast) and yes, i am well prepared. I've got a wind up torch and radio as well as candles, a pressure lamp and the usual camping paraphenalia
Please, please ensure that you have doors and windows open (and at least good ventilation) if you have to light up the Calor Gas stove and heater, Maidup......there is a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning from using such appliances in a poorly-ventilated space.
No power cuts here yet but a search for what was in my garden earlier could be far and wide. Do I put the bins out?
ours went off for a few seconds 3/4 times
Is it windy? I'm on the East coast so I suppose I'll be the last to get it (story of my life)
However, I am not worried. I have chocolate oranges to sustain me.
Lots of flickering but no cuts as yet. Rain was so heavy on conservatory roof could not hear OH speaking or TV, scary thought it could cave in any momen.

Good point DT - I'll make sure I ventilate if I need to use the gas stoves, but all being well I'll not need them for too long as its nearly time for bed now.

I'm in Norfolk Mammar and its as windy as its ever been. Must get chocolate orange and keep one in my emergency survival box!
flowerpots everywhere in my back garden....along with branches and other rubbish blowing all over the place. electrics are flickering.....but i'm not overly worried (yet!). i know where the candles and torches are and i'll just go to bed if the electrics goes off properly. i like hearing the wind and rain on my windows ;-) x

I love to hear the rain lcg76, but I always find the wind a bit scary. what I love most of all is a good thunderstorm, but we haven't had one of those for months or years!
Well, it must be diverting its way past me in Lincolnshire. When it gets really bad my carport roof usually lets me know but (touch wood) it's quiet at the moment. I do hope I'm not pushing my luck with this post.
Ok here on the coast maidup atm .No outages ...but it's very wild out there .No rain as yet but it's whistling down the chimney .
