Heating a conservatory
I have a freezing conservatory & want to try to heat it economically through the winter. Are oil filled radiators any good & how expensive are they to run please?

Electricity typically costs around 12p per Kwh so (based upon that) a 1.5KW heater costs about 18p per hour to run. Similarly, a 2KW heater would cost around 24p per hour. (Allowing for differences in tariffs, and recent price increases, you might need to add a penny or two onto those figures).
If you only want to keep the chill off (and the damp away) a 500W heater would only cost about 6p per hour to run but don't expect your conservatory to actually feel 'warm' with such a low-powered heater.
Also, (unlike fan heaters) oil-filled radiators don't start pumping heat out straight away. It takes a while for them (and their surroundings) to warm up properly.

On simon mayo's radio 2 show some weeks ago a guy was on talking about a new heater he invented that run's at 1pence per hour at today's prices, they didnt repeat the email address but it was something like snugglin.com,or snuggling,i tried both but couldnt find it,if you can contact the show d say they have the email add,im not so hot on a pc so got fed up tryin, love to know the details tho!
So that ^ would be about an 80watt heater???
any electric heater is 100% efficient, you put 500watts in you get 500watts out, you put 80watts in, you get 80watts out.
If this guy is claiming he's invented a heater that you put 80watts in and get more than that in heat out then he's managed to break one of the fundamental laws of physics.
