lubricating cross cut paper shredders? Mine has just packed up, the motor ground to a halt. Since then I have discovered that it pays to lubricate the cutting blades. Can this be done with WD40? There is a bottle of yellow lube on Ebay (under paper shredders) but I would not know how to apply it. A spray would be better. Any advice welcome.
let the motor cool down, unless it is an industrial shredder it can't take more than a few minutes continuous shredding especially if you put a few sheets through at a time.
at work we also sell small bottles of the lube spray, never seem to sell any though, people bring shredders back quite often because they get them and then try to shred an entire life's worth of paperwork in one day, hence the over heating.
Just squirt some along the slot in the top of the shredder and then run a few sheets of paper through it (the instructions will be on the back of the bottle)
