US video versions

Hey everybody. I was thinking of buying a particular film on video from the US as it's recently been deleted here and I don't want to pay silly prices on Ebay for the region 2 dvd or video. My video manual does say that it plays NTSC versions but the picture could be iffy. Has anyone bought US videos and experienced any probs or not? All advice gratefully received. Ta.

Every time I have seen an NTSC tape play on a vcr that says it can it has been fine. Strange for the manufacturer to say it may be iffey!

Ah, video. I remember that :)

It should be fine, it was for me. I think it's just a warning they stick on the instructions. I think I remember reading something like that for my player, and it was all good.

I'm now renting a house with a VCR as old as the hills and can't play NTSC videos (it's just a black screen with silence), but as long as your player says it can play them it'll probably play them well enough.

It's possible (but unlikely) that your TV may have a problem with the NTSC signal.

Why not get the region 1 DVD and hack your player?

Thanks guys. You've reassured me. Loosehead, I have considered hacking the dvd player but so far I haven't seen my model on the websites and knowing my luck it'll probably go horribly wrong! At least I know it should be worth buying from the US now. Thanks again.
