What's up with Double u's?

I have been a bit poorly lately and sleep has been hard to come by.

During last night's wondering brainstorm (that's what I call it) it occurred to me that words with 2 u's, in the main, tend to bring unpleasant thoughts with them.

Such as:

uterus
usurp
bunkum
usury
sputum
mucus
fungus
rupture
uvula
puncture
sunburn
gluttonous
sourpuss
outrageous
unjust
dubious
furious
vacuum
bulbous
injurious
adulterous
etc., etc., etc.

But it is not unusual for 3 u's to bring nicer thoughts to mind
(see wot I did then?):

ubiquitous
unctuous
luxurious
sumptuous
scrupulous

Yes, I was sad enough to write down my thoughts at silly o'clock this morning.
