windows 8

My desktop display has moved left and I have lost most of the icons.They can be seen when the display is minimised.How can I restore the display in oder that I can see all the icons ?

I guess you mean the Startup into Metro Screen.
You do know that the mouse scroll wheel moves the screen sideways ?

you could upgrade to Windows 7 :-)

If it's the start screen you don't even need to use the mouse wheel, just dragging the cursor of the edge of the screen scrolls the screen.

To be fair, rojash, windows8 isn't that bad, I've put it on my work laptop just to have a play with it (gotta love volume licensing) and aside from having to get used to the new start screen and a couple of slight driver glitches (which aren't really windows fault) I find most stuff an improvement.... I much prefer the new task manager and the new copy dialogues.

The two biggest annoyance to my mind are shutting down is a bit of a pain and activating the hot corners can be a pain on a multi monitor setup... I like the fact this laptop will wake up from sleep before I can even get the screen fully open though :)

I know it's not chuckybaby. But it would be much better if you could easily get it to default to the interface appropriate to your hardware environment. If Linux can let you choose which desktop you use by default, why can't Windows 8?
