Unwanted Prize Giveaway Ad in New Tab

For the past few days,I've had a new tab spontaneously open for a site called 'life.localised.com'-telling me I could win a new ipad......
It appears without me clicking on anything-and is becoming annoying. How do I get rid of it?

you need chuck to tell you how to remove this from registry. its in, and won't give up easily. you have looked at some web site and it's sneaked in. chuck knows how to remove them, but if you fwet no response from him, i will tell you how tomorrow, but He's the real expert.

Hi pastafreak,
Will give you the remedy tomorrow, as my Son who is a computer buff, will sort it and tell you what to do. These annoying things are a real pest, and sometimes they can almost wreck your computer with the blue screen of death syndrome, or just annoying popups. I have had loads of them.
just a thought, have you been int " add remove programmes" and seen if it is there? you can just remove it easily. if you are not an expert , what operating system is on your computer, is it windows XP, or VISTA, or windows 7?
