Have any of you lot seen the rather naff "Bargain Booze" advert?....Im not saying that i don't drink because like us all im partial to my own favourite tipple- BUT- theres such a lot about the "evils" of drink and the negative effect its having on the nation then why oh why are adverts like this allowed to advertise 50 bottles for a fiver etc etc...surely things like this promote a nation of drunks instead of trying to minimise the risks and dangers created by alcohol?

I am no cospiracy theorist, but it does seem that the government's mealy-mouthed attitude to enforcing regulations that would benefit the nation's health are being fudged big-style - both smoking and drinking.
Could the massive tax revenues from the consumption of tobacco and alcohol have anything to do with the apparent reluctance to face up to the harm of the excesses of these drugs - and as you say sleepincutie, the ability of a national off-licence chain to advertise its cut-price drinks?
