I did a chocolate sponge with vanilla and coffee buttercream for my work team today and am currently baking a cake for Movember celebrations tomorrow - chocolate and vanilla sponge with chocolate topping and chocolate spaghetti stuff to make it look moustache like - not sure if I'm brave enough to try and cut it into a moustache shape in case it collapses haha!
Wondering whether to pop some chilli powder in the chocolate to jazz it up a bit :)
I rarely bake (or cook) but this week I've made 2 chocolate sponges with buttercream filling and fudge topping. OH's birthday so I had to take most of it to share out with his work colleagues.
Nothing yet, but this weekend is my friend's babyshower which I am catering. I am doing an afternoon-tea style. I am doing finger sandwiches, mini lemon drizzle cakes, fruit tartlets, mini choc cakes, mini victoria sponges, macarons and little scones.
Haha Sibton! :) Sounds lovely Prudie! I don't really eat much cake type stuff at home so I bake for work, charity things and for my team, so nice to be baking things again!
Wow Vodka, sounds amazing! Do you need a tasting assistant ;)
Movember cake finished and am all baked out for tonight! (Photos on FB V :)) x
Living alone - i rarely bake, however i can be creative in the kitchen if need be.
For example - i'll be making a pate for the starter at the family christmas meal
I usually make scones, sausage rolls and a few buns but we've tried to cut down on cakes etc. for the past two weeks. I did make a plum and apple crumble for dessert on Monday though.
That will probably be the state of mine Mrs O seeing as I have a hospital appointment first thing and am walking with a stick at the moment so that combined with 3 buses before getting into work may spell cake disaster! :) It's definitely the thought that counts...
Not this week but last week I made a bacon/egg quiche,cheese/onion quiche,mince/onion pie and a corned beef and potato pie and all were dived upon as they came out of the oven, nothing left by the next day.
