Charcoal in Extractor
Just following on from an answer that Chazza gave in the smelly fridge link, when i moved into my house i cleared out the little charcoal bits that were in my extractor fan in the kitchen thinking they were lil bits of dirt (stupid i know). Is it the same charcoal you use on BBQ's and can i fill it back up with that?

However, you should be able to buy replacement filter 'pads', which have the activated charcoal held between some form of porous fabric. They may well be called something other than 'pads', such as 'sheets', 'filter units' etc etc , but many of them are a standard size and you should be able to find a replacement for your fan unit.
