gas fire not working

we have a old gas fire ,but for the last winter and the start of this one the
two middle tiles of four are not getting hot,we try and move the tiles around but sill no better.
Can we do anything or is the fire on the way out?

If its a very old gas fire i would get rid, and i don't think you would get a gas safe engineer to work on it, due to its age.

Agree with neti, jets probably blocked up with carbon, you could perhaps try clearing them with some thin wire and clean the jet tips by giving them a light rub with a bit of fine grade emery cloth.

sounds like it wants condemning to me..dont mess with gas fires yourself...
