I still have my school badge which I've had since I was eleven. It's a phoenix rising, with rays of light behind it and the motto is Ad Lucem. I have it pinned on the outside of my very old pencil case.

Last week, one of the lads at college, having looked at the badge, said,'Miss, were you in the SAS?'

I said, 'Yes', just to shut him up.

Zacs, have you read this thread?
I have. Very amusing it is too. Sixth form was the happiest days of my life. All,those 18th birthday parties. Aaaah happy days.
Question Author
The parties were good but the work load was appalling. I found sixth form really exhausting.
I only took Art, Geography and Geology and I dropped Geology after lower sixth so it was a blast for me.
Oh, and general studies. Which I got an O level in.

What did you do, paint pictures of mountain ranges?
I did A level needlework - it's been really useful to me in my business career... :-)
I still have my Skegness Butlins badge and Butlins committee badge and boy scout badge from 1949.
Cheeky. I'm a cartographer.
I can't see anyway to do it other than thrawling through your Qs on your profile, zacs
^ LOL, trawling
I have a badge given to me by an East German boy when I was studying in the old USSR.
It says 'Fur gut arbeit in der schule'.
I gave him 3 biros in return.

Oh, I love maps. I have loads of ordnance survey maps. Being a cartographer must be very interesting.
Question Author
Dennis, can you see how my school badge would be taken for an SAS badge?
I have loads of OS maps too Tilly. I do a lot of walking and mrs z tuts every time I have to buy a new one.
Question Author
I buy them so I can find the footpaths to walk the dogs. I always get Ranger maps. I think they are the largest scale.
They are indeed. I used to do a lot of mountain biking and did altitude/ terrain illustrations of the routes. Ooh this anorak is a bit tight today.
