A friend of mine is charged with affray, she was attacked in a pub by 6 people,she walked in the pub alone and was then set upon...?what is likely to happen in these circumstances? she is clsaiming self defense. who in their right mind would attack 6 people..?

If she has actually been charged - the police must have information that she antagonised the incident in some way. 6 People or not !

In English Law Affray forms part of the Public Order Act 1986 under section 3.

The Public Order Act 1986 s.3 states:

A person is guilty of Affray if he uses or threatens unlawful violence towards another and his conduct is such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for his personal safety.
Where two or more persons use or threaten the unlawful violence, it is the conduct of them taken together that must be considered for the purpose of subsection (1)
For the purposes of this section a threat can not be made by the use of words alone.
No person of reasonable firmness need actually be, or be likely to be, present at the scene.
Affray may be committed in private as well as in public places.

So they may have CCTV footage/witnesses. If it's as clear cut as she went in a pub, sober and was attacked then the police would not charge her with affray. Are there any charges against the other 6 ?

You would be very suprised at what your own mother would do when she thinks no-one is watching (figuratively speaking - no offence to your mum !)

Almcd is right about there being more to this than meets the eye. I think you need all the facts, 'friend' or not - it's perhaps a little naive to believe that a person would be attacked by six strangers for no reason.
