I do mine 10 days before Xmas and take them down 10 days after. I decorate the bannister with lights tinsel and baubles so like a Xmas tree really and also have a crib. Not messy just festive.

That's the outside done today. We will have the official switch on around 5.30.

Mine are still in the loft and I can't get up there so unless some kind person offers to climb the ladder, it looks like they'll be staying up there in their boxes.
