Only just heard the news. I'm devastated. Another true eccentric gone. So many presenters are so safe and boring today
My sister and I were allowed to stay up and watch The Sky at Night and were bought a telescope between us on the strength of our interest, all due to Patrick Moore. I will miss him terribly!

I'd Like to add my Condolences to his family and friends of Sir Patrick Moore, monthly late nights will never be the same "Good Evening" in twenty years that have inspired me in Astronomy the Sky at night will never be the same without him.

My dad was his publisher, I grew up listening to many very funny dinner party anecdotes. I saw him on the Sky at tnight the other week and he didn't seem at all aware as to what was going on. RIP Patrick :-)
