My ancient methodist hymn book has 'star of wonder star of light' (don't have a copy of Oxford Book of Carols) but I've had to make it night so that I can have nicam at 72 across. Anyone got anything better?

Cheers, Pat

Nicam is correct.
This is one of those situations where both answers are in fact right. I thought it was light, but apparantly some versions of the hymn use 'night' !
I have the Oxford book of carols Page 88 Kings of Orient and its night.
I often get confused when singing it, but if you remember the last line of the chorus is "Guide us to thy perfect light" you will get the night in the correct place!
Have surfed the web on this one and find it is written by John H Hopkins Jnr in 1857, and believe it or not 'light' and 'night' get two entries each! Take your pick, Merry Christmas!!
