Is Nokia Messaging service free?

I've just bought a new Nokia 201 Asha mobile and it's asking me if I want to join Nokia Messaging, but as I won't be using the internet service I have no need unless it's free, which I suspect not. Do they catch innocent buyers into expensive services if you unwittingly accept the use or can you leave it and use it for nothing? There's nothing on the website (which is suspicious in itself) so won't touch it for now.
