My Oxford Talking Dictionary shows both powerful and convincing as alternative words for either COGENT or POTENT. What is the consensus?

I thought Potent but I am stuck on several, how far have you got?

I would go for cogent. Either would probably fit as a solution. Powerful and convincing are listed as synonyms for both words. Powerful and potent are very close to each other. Cogent and convincing are equally close to each other.


I just feel cogent on balance is closer to both words.

Tough call, I would go for cogent, but not with any certainty.
