The answer would be a definite 'NO', had the remarks been deemed racist, the members of the crowd who issued these remarks would have not only been removed from the proceedings but would have also faced a charge of racism.

Interesting, so it seems from these answers, that if some ignorant individuals, associates a person who happens to look different to the general accepted image of the 'rest of the crowd', it is quite in order to shout abuse at them, or otherwise ridicule them.

Mmmm, I can think of instances were this kind of reaction would be met with very serious allegations, leading to the arrest of the person or persons issuing the abuse.

One could equally say why is shouting "monkey" deemed to be abusive? (not only abusive but also illegal) and quite rightly so.

anotheoldgit, the last time I looked, Jesus looked like a human being whereas a monkey is most definitely not human. Can you honestly not see the difference in being compared to a monkey rather than Jesus?
