Just had a box of wine wrongly delivered to us from Laithwaites. There was no name on it, just address. (Our road,Tonbridge). Quickly realised that we hadn't ordered any wine, so looked at label which said'Love from Heather & Mark'. We don't know any couple by that name, and managed to catch delivery driver to call him back. On checking address label, we saw that it should have been delivered a few houses away. Driver said that he'd already tried that house and it wasn't them either. He took it away and drove off. For a fraction of a second, I thought 'should have kept that - 12 free bottles of plonk - very Happy Christmas!' Then thought - NO! Heather & Mark would be most upset, as would the rightful recipients. Maybe Heather or Mark are ABers - if so, please check address of people you sent the box of wine to, and make sure they received it. I'm guessing the majority of other ABers would have done the same?
I'd have done the same as you and would also email Laithwaites in order for them to contact Heather and Mark via the email address they gave when they bought the wine online. Just in case the driver dumps it somewhere else or at worse, doesn't deliver it at all!
Good suggestion, Maidup. Have just emailed customer services explaining what happened so we'll see what happens next. Will let you know if they do send me some free wine (she said, hopefully!)- more likely just a money -off voucher I expect!
