Took Colonoscopy Prep 12 Hours To Work Procedure Did Not Happen Very Disssapointed
7 Answers
HI there I took the preparation exactly as directed and all I got was stomach pain high temp and feeling shivery kept waiting for an explosion. Nothing happened went to bed and this morning phoned the ward and I either have a very lazy colon or something else wrong with it the nurse said. I am being rescheduled with a view to fast for a whole day then take the prep and then fast that day and then next day have the colonoscopy. I have started to really move 30 mins ago how the heck does it take over 14 hours to start working. I am really worrying now I have a tumour if I did would that slow everything down to a snails pace. On a more calm note I was extremely constipated before I started the prep 8 days without anything. It is very frustrating

Please don't jump to any conclusions. The reason you need the colonoscoopy is to find the problem and it could be anything. In the meantime drink plenty of fluids this evening and get back to a gentle diet over the next few days to help your system get back to normal. When you get your next appointment, drink plenty again , eat fruit and veg before you fast and no heavy meals.
How you feeling this evening?

If you were constipated then your stools would have been very hard and a normal amount of laxative would not have worked. There may also have been lots of them up there. It sounds (to me) normal and now that you have 'been' you shouldn't have any more problems re. having a nice clear colon for your procedure.
