the hydraulic thingies that hold up the tailgate aren't working properly , the boot won't stay fully open. Can I repair them or do they need replacing? ta
Search for a "gas strut". They are easy to replace, secure one end then compress the strut to secure the other end. The hardest part is compressing the strut so you will need two people, one to compress it and the other to fit the bolt. Don't forget to prop open the tailgate.
Fitting new struts isn't that difficult(not a two person job)as when the boot is propped open they do not need compressing very far. It is difficult to compress them far by yourself, but as I said the small compression needed with boot open is quite easy. Hope that helps.
