Who knew that DVLA, in their wisdom are closing all local offices by December 2013?

WHAT A DISGRACE.

They want everything to be either sent through the post or to update changes on the internet. Just to save money.

Well gauranteed, this will not work. Not many of the public knows about this & when the results of the consultation were received, there were hardly any responses in favour of this. But they are still going ahead with this very silly idea.

WELL DONE DVLA!

i have been driving for 20 years and have never had to go to a dvla office
Along with the majority here I have never visited a DVLA office and have recently moved from using Post Office counter service in favour of DVLA online.

So why do you think it is a disgrace Has? How do you you use the DVLA service differently to the rest of us that you are going to be so inconvenienced?
I used to work for the DVLA (many moons ago) - the machine used to do the tax discs was ginormous! Wonder how they will deal with the transfer of personalised number plates now (although I suspect the systems is a lot different now to when I used to do it).

Ps - has, are you always this cross about tuff?
It's not a disgrace at all, when did you last go to the DVLA office? We either use the post office, or (more likely) do everything on line, as the majority of people seem to do these days. It's called realistic use of their resources.

Great Idea!

You on the electric yet? DVLA local offices? I thought they shut years ago! I do it all online, I can't imagine a reason to go to one.
lol i never knew they had local offices

that explains why we've been given new deadlines for the license checking
I notice has didn't come back -perhaps they realised that we all thought it's a good idea.
has has been back?
no, has hasn't :-)
Do the DVLA have local offices?

I never knew that.
always used to tax cars at the post office with all the jerry hatricks on pension day, then I found out that even a computer thicko like me can do it online, oh happy day.
If you care to look at the DVLA's own site, you'll find that the Tax Disc (VED)is soon to be phased out in favour of a digitised device. So yet another thing you won't be able to do at the Post Office, let alone the local DVLA !
