I saw an art programme where they used (cut out windows)contact paper over the canvas and when painting done they peeled off the contact paper..can anyone tell me what kind and where can I buy this paper ? sorry if I ven't explained it very well.
Could it have been masking tape they were using? I use it when painting round the edges of a painting to form a frame on the paper/canvas. It can be peeled off (carefully) when the paint has dried.
It was same size as the canvas ( looked like a sheet of paper which had a large oval cut out of it placed over the canvas) and when he finished the painting he peeled the paper sheet off ...it looked amazing
You can buy low tack aerosol, like 3M Spray Mount....used by artists as a temporary adhesive. If you used that you have the versatility to use any paper or fabric for the resist shape ....even newspaper so it will work out cheaper. The resist will peel off easily.
Airbrush artists would tend to use a product called 'Frisket Masking Film'. It's a very thin, totally clear, low-tack plastic film available at art supply shops.
