Can anybody tell me how to keep a house smelling fresh without chemicals, when you have a dog and two cats?

Wash all three of them fairly regularly?

was gonna say the same thing. Groom the pets and keep their resting places clean. Shampoo your rugs and then vacuum regularly. You can also sprinkle bicarbonate of soda over your rugs, leave overnight then vacuum thoroughly.

I also find that some makes of petfood make my dog smell, you might need to experiment to see if this is the case

Hi Julia, I hate it - my dad visits me and the first thing he says to me is that my house smells, although it is spotlessly clean (I have 2 dogs and an indoor Persian cat).I really do not think that you can avoid the 'animal' smell but if you find a good remedy please let me know!!

You can burn Aromatherapy Essesntial Oils - I used to combine Lavender oil with less lemongrass (its quite strong so you only need a few drops)- or you can add these oils to water in a spray and give your house a good spray before visitors arrive. You can use different oils of course depending on which smells you like.

Hope this is helpful - it worked for me when I had a dog and was selling my flat - no-one suspected I homed a large alsatian!
