Configure Wireless Connection

If I leave my desk top computer for a short period my wireless connection is disconnected/dropped. I then have to again go through the motions of going to Network Connections, go to properties etc etc etc until I again get Windows to configure my wireless connection. This could happen many times daily. Is there any way I can lock my wireless connection so that it stays connected.
