Alcohol in your blood stream

Hiya, I have to go out at 6pm this evening in my car and I want to check that I am OK to drive. I had my last drink last night at about 11pm and consumed over the course of the day 2 bottles of cava (12%) and about 1/4 bottle of vodka. Will I be OK to drive and can I have 2 glasses of wine once I am there?

Short of you buying one of those alcohol testing kits I wouldn't like to put a bet on it as I believe that different metabolisms can absorb alcohol at different rates. That's a fair amount of alcohol for one day although obviously if you don't drink any alcohol during today, a lot of it will have cleared through the system. The obvious sensible answer can only be, "If in doubt, don't". Weigh up the cost of possibly having an accident or losing your licence. Can you scrounge a lift or get a taxi instead, just to be on the safe side?

As a guide they say that it takes an hour to rid one unit of alcohol out of your system. 1 unit is a SMALL glass of wine, 1 measure of spirits, 1/2 pint standard larger or a 1/3 pint strong lager. Work out what you drunk yesterday and how long since you had it all. Be honest or there'd be no point. I totally agree with what WendyS says too....

I make that about 25 units of alcohol so it should be out of your system ABOUT 25 hours from the time you started drinking - assuming you drank at the same rate all day.

But even if she drunk it all at once it'd still take that length of time to process it all!
